CROWN PROSECUTION SERVICE (CPS)
Following the announcement in last month’s e-update that the Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) has published its Violence Against Women Strategy and Action Plans, CPS has also just launched two new related consultations on its rape and domestic violence policies. The deadline for both is 29 October 2008.

$2.6 million funding for endometriosis
$2.6 million was awarded to the International Endogene Consortium which is studying the genetic background of Endometriosis.

Northern Ireland secures BPW support for those fleeing violence and abuse.
BPW calls on the government to abolish the “No recourse to public funds” requirement for all people with insecure immigration status who are victims of violence and abuse, whether in the context of marriage or relationship, employment or human trafficking, and moreover to ensure that adequate resources are urgently made available to ensure refuge, safety and support for all those seeking to flee violence and abuse.

This final report from the EOC calls for action so that our systems and institutions can catch up with the way we live so that all women and men can achieve equality.
