Women’s worlds 2008 – Your views needed

Women’s Worlds will take place at Madrid University in Spain from July 3-9thr. It aims to bring together academics, researchers and those interested in women’s rights. This will be the 10th International Interdisciplinary Congress on Women.

The first took place in Haifa, Israel in 1981 and since then over 40 000 people have attended. Every three years Women’s Worlds goes to a new country and a different continent. So far the places have included Holland, Ireland, U.S., South Korea, Uganda, Costa Rica, Australia and Norway.

The butterfly is the symbol of Women’s worlds – hoping it will honour the achievements of brave women and express commitment to continue fighting for freedom of all women. The motto is “Equality: No Utopia.”

The theme for MMWW08 is “New Frontiers: Dares and Advancements” and the organisers are asking for your contributions for the event. They are open to suggestions from all fields related to women in contemporary societies as well as historically. They place special emphasis on two central themes: violence and migrations. The deadline is February 28th 2008.
