Making a Difference
BPW UK is a non-party-political lobbying organisation, it gives members the opportunity to influence the formation of policies to help women and lobbies on behalf of women. Through membership of BPW Europe, it is a member of the European Women's Lobby, which monitors legislation in the European Parliament for its impact on the lives of women.

The views of the membership are sought through consultations, the most recent being that on the proposed Commission for Equality and Human Rights. BPW UK submitted its response on the Commission White Paper to the Government at the beginning of August 2004.

BPW UK Mandate
All members have the opportunity to participate in decision-making at local, national and international levels. In addition, they have the facility to initiate motions for debate at the National Conference. If accepted, the issues become part of our mandate and the relevant bodies are lobbied on our behalf, whether at governmental or local level. Hence we can make a difference to the lives of women.

Partnerships
BPW UK works in partnership with various national organisations including the Women's National Commission (of which BPW UK was a founder member) and the "Six 0" group of the major women's organisations in this country.

Public Appointments
BPW UK is keen that the influence of women is felt in all aspects of our community and as such actively encourages women to stand for public appointments.Training for appointments is formally through seminars and workshops, or informally through involvement with the organisation at its different levels.
